6 wedding trends I saw in 2025 that I hope to see more of in 2026
As a photographer, 2025 was a year of incredible storytelling and high energy. While traditional weddings remain timeless, certain choices can elevate the entire guest experience and aesthetic. Here are six trends I loved capturing this year and can't wait to see more of in 2026!
1. The Interactive Champagne Tower
Champagne towers have returned as a major focal point for 2025–2026 weddings.
Why it works: It’s an interactive "show-stopping moment" that typically happens just before the first dance or as a kickoff to cocktail hour.
The Look: Couples are personalizing their towers with vintage-style coupe glasses, colorful rose champagne, or even decorating the base with fresh grapes and flowers.
In 2026, the trend is shifting from background music to immersive musical experiences that evolve throughout the 8-hour day. I hope to see more couples using live musicians!
Cinematic Violinists: For the ceremony, a solo violinist or string duo is the ultimate way to create an "emotional anchor". Couples are moving away from traditional classical music and choosing modern instrumental covers of pop songs or cinematic film themes to make their walk down the aisle feel personal and grand.
The "Bridgerton" Effect: String quartets are staying popular for 2026, often playing upbeat, recognizable contemporary hits during cocktail hour to keep the atmosphere sophisticated yet fun.
Cultural Soul: Of course, I’m still a huge fan of the mariachi band. Their charisma and traditional costumes bring a rich, soulful energy that is perfect for a grand entrance or leading guests from the ceremony to the reception.
2. Live Music: From Elegant Violinists to High-Energy Mariachi
3. A Packed Dance Floor: It Starts with You
In 2025, the best dance floors I photographed weren't just the result of a good DJ—they were led by the couple. Guests naturally take their cues from you; if you are on the floor, they will be too!
Collaborate on an "Uplifting" Set: Work with your DJ during your pre-wedding consultations to define the energy arcs of the night. Ask for a mix that starts with universally loved songs to pull in all generations.
Lead by Example: One of the most effective ways to keep the party going is to stay on the dance floor for at least the first 20–30 minutes of open dancing. When your guests see you having the time of your life, it makes them want to celebrate with you!
Handle Your "Hellos" Early: To ensure you can stay on the floor, try to finish your table greetings during dinner or cocktail hour. This way, once the music starts, you aren't getting pulled away for conversations, allowing the momentum to build uninterrupted.
Protect the Flow: Work with your DJ to limit interruptions once the floor is officially open. Save the cake cutting or bouquet toss for the very beginning or end of the dance set so you don't break the high-energy vibe just as it’s peaking.
One of the most touching trends of the past year was the inclusion of all generations in the morning preparations.
The Trend: Moving beyond just the bridal party to include mothers and grandmothers, even flower girls, in the getting ready process creates deeply emotional and candid family portraits.
4. Multigenerational "Getting Ready" Moments
5. The Reception "Second Look"
With a full 8-hour timeline, the outfit change has become a staple for brides who want both elegance and mobility.
The Trend: Transitioning from a classic, structured gown into a chic mini-dress or even a bridal jumpsuit for the late-night party.
For 2026, the cathedral-length veil is making a massive comeback, adding a sense of grandeur to traditional venues.
The Trend: We are seeing more than just plain tulle; textured veils with ruffles, pearl-encrusted designs, and custom botanical embroidery are defining the new season.
6. The Long and Dramatic Cathedral Veil
When I’m not hunting for the best matcha in Orange County or planning my next trip, I’m documenting the kind of magic that can’t be scripted. I believe the best photos happen when you’re fully yourself, so I ditch the stiff poses in favor of real, honest chemistry. My goal is to be the friend by your side who makes sure you actually enjoy the day while I handle the memories.
That is where my role as your advocate comes in. I make sure the "plan" never gets in the way of the actual magic. I help you navigate the flow of your day from a photographer’s perspective, ensuring that the schedule serves your peace of mind rather than the other way around. My job is to handle the documentation so you can stay fully tucked into the moments that matter.
Hi, I’m Devan!
